No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only, who is at the Father’s side, has made Him known. But the idea is that the amount of grace that God has is so vast that it is spilling out onto us, resulting in one blessing after another in our lives. I know that many do not readily see these blessings, and depending on our circumstances we’ll have a differing amount of openness toward believing that God’s blessings are indeed present in our lives. But the truth, as John is writing it here, is that the grace of God is prevalent throughout our lives, whether we see it or not…and the blessings of God are the evidence of that grace. With Jesus came a whole new spiritual economy, and entirely new way in which people could think about relating to God. In the past (prior to Christ’s birth) the person who wanted to get close to God would primarily have thought about keeping the law that God had given through Moses. And while that law pointed to the truth about God, it did not embody or contain the truth in a full way. But God, knowing this full well, gives us grace…unmerited favor, and He does that through Jesus Christ. Not only do we have the opportunity to come near to God now through the grace that Christ gives…we also have the opportunity to receive a more complete understanding of truth, because Jesus Himself embodies truth. We now have a realistic hope of understanding God, because Jesus is the lens through which we can accurately view God. But Jesus has made Him known to us…he is the image of the invisible God (Colossians 1:15) the only way we have of seeing the mysterious nature of who and what God is. Jesus, as some have crudely said, is God with skin on. There is nothing more I can learn about God apart from Him, and there is no way I can get close to God apart from Him.

Setting up my blog was kind of easy, and I think that it will help me write down my feelings and thoughts.I enjoy reading pankration in class because it stops us from doing work, it also allows the other not such good readers to gain confidence. I think I’ve learnt lots this year especially with interesting topics but I don’t learn well when I have to answer lots and lots of questions.
